Our vineyards are home to some of the most prized Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in the region, and in vintages of rarefied quality this fruit is so exceptional it demands its own very special blend. The 2021 was one of those special vintages. This limited wine is the finest selection of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from our estate. A luxurious and memorable wine experience; concentrated, brooding and rich with intriguing oak and bottle age complexity. 

 

Tasting Notes

Unique to Australia, this style is regarded as a genuine classic. A blend of two great varieties that is at the heart of many great Australian reds made and enjoyed over several decades.

The two varieties don't always naturally work together; great care must be taken to find components which are genuinely complementary to find that magical combination. As we make this wine very rarely, and in very limited quantities, we can afford to take our time and be very choosy.

Each variety was picked when at its best, fermented, pressed, and put to barrel for an extended 'sleep' of 16 months. After much tasting, discussion, disagreement and more tasting we finally agreed on the details: two barrels of Shiraz and 'not quite' two barrels of Cabernet.

The full-throttle depth and exuberance of the Shiraz was tempered beautifully by the coolness, structure and 'backbone' of the Cabernet. The latter is the key to its longevity, which we expect to be well in excess of a decade. Cellar it carefully, but with confidence!
