2010 Black Hinge Reserve Barossa Tempranillo
Current Vintage: 2010
Awards & Accolades:
- Silver Medal – Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show (2012)
Source: Entirely produced from vines grown at Pindarie. The Tempranillo clone is D8V12 grown on shallow red brown earth overlying limestone to produce full flavour and concentration. The reserve fruit comes from the stoniest section of the block on the highest section of the western ridge.
Winemaking: Deep dense and concentrated. Fermented on skins in open small fermenters with gentle pumping over to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Matured for 24 months in predominantly French oak.
Cellaring: Now until 2025
Style: The Tempranillo has a vibrant red colour with some purple hues. The aroma is characterised by black cherries and rich forest floor earthiness. A lovely dusty aroma from the oak complexes the bouquet which comes across on the palate. This wine has all the hallmarks and potential to increase in complexity with bottle age. Absolutely Delicious!
Cuisine Matching: We consider it complements rich spicy dishes of a Mediterranean influence.
