Tasting Notes

Source: Entirely produced from vines grown at Pindarie. The Shiraz is clone 1654, grown on red brown earth overlying limestone to give full flavour and concentration. This reserve patch comes from the stoniest section of the North block Shiraz.

Winemaking: Fermented on skins in an open small fermenter with gentle pumping over to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Matured for 24 months in American oak.

Cellaring: Now until 2020

Style: Black Hinge is a Reserve Wine in years when an exceptional batch of fruit has been taken aside and given special attention combined with slow maturation in oak. Deep dense and concentrated.

Cuisine matching: We consider it complements rich meaty dishes with beef or venison. Be adventurous!
